Pink Proves Rock Chops In Taylor Hawkins Tribute

Fans and loved ones were shocked and saddened by the unexpected death of Taylor Hawkins in 2022, after he had played drums for the Foo Fighters for over 25 years. The Foo Fighters paid their respects by performing two memorial concerts—one in London and one in Los Angeles—joined by fans. Many of Taylor’s closest friends and favorite musicians came to the festivities to pay tribute to him by performing.

Pink was one of the special guests at the Kia Forum event in Los Angeles. The portion was presented by Dave Grohl as “the part where all of Taylor’s good friends come up and play” before the classic smash “The Pretender” by the Foo Fighters was launched into action. In remembrance of her friend, Pink stepped onto the stage to sing alongside Dave. One internet user said, “Is there anything Pink can’t sing?” after seeing the pop star’s astounding rock-style vocals, which stunned many onlookers.

Taylor Hawkins and his music were honored by many other legendary musicians that attended. At the London event, tribute performances were given by artists such as Paul McCartney, Brian Johnson, Liam Gallagher, John Paul Jones, and Lars Ulrich. Legendary artists like Brad Wilk, Nancy Wilson, and Joan Jett performed for Los Angeles concertgoers. On that particular night, Pink returned to the stage alongside another renowned band—Queen.

Pink joined original Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor onstage as a last-minute replacement for a performer unable to continue because to a COVID-19 pandemic. Stepping into the footsteps of the late, great vocalist Freddie Mercury, she stunned audiences with an unrehearsed yet flawless rendition of “Somebody to Love,” demonstrating her rock vocals once again.

It was evident that Taylor Hawkins was greatly appreciated as a friend and musical influence, as seen by the gathering of so many magnificent musicians who paid tribute to him. Performing a cover that Taylor frequently sang on Foo Fighters tours and a famous hit by his band were two ways that Pink and other friends of Taylor paid respect. With her rock abilities on full display, Pink paid fitting tribute to this adored rock icon.
